Multi-level car parking buildings at Chennai airport to be opened on August 1

Beginning in August, travellers at Chennai International Airport will be able to park their automobiles in one of two multi-level parking structures and use link bridges to walk to the terminals.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI), which will launch two multi-level parking structures with a combined capacity of 2,000 automobiles on August 1, will shortly announce the winner of a tender to manage the parking system. On Wednesday, the CISF, police, airlines, and other companies met to discuss how to use it.

The two buildings should have a designated space for disabled passengers and ample time for individuals to be dropped off, according to officials. The two structures were previously accessible to automobiles thanks to paths provided by the government.

Based on feedback from airlines, CISF and other agencies, AAI plans to revise traffic plan for vehicles on the city side to ensure private cars and cabs can drop passengers at the parking building or at the terminal and reach the parking spot.
