Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Mopa airport in Goa, which cost Rs 3000 crore to build, will soon be put into operation.
During the Rojgaar Melava, which was hosted by the Goa state government, he was virtually addressing young people who had been appointed to positions in Goa government ministries.
He claimed that “thousands of Goans” had been employed during the airport’s development.
A Greenfield Airport is being built at Mopa in North Goa by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), a division of GMR Airports Limited (GAL). This project is being carried out using a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) methodology, which is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. According to extensive leasing agreements, GGIAL will manage the airport for GMR for a 40-year period that is extendable by 20 years.
