The Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway’s first phase was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The project’s first phase connects Nagpur and Shirdi over 520 kilometres. The 701 km-long project, known as the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, would link Nagpur and Mumbai. Balasaheb Thackeray, the founder of the Shiv Sena, has been honoured with an expressway name.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the project will cost $55,000 crore and will be one of India’s longest expressways because it will travel through Amravati, Aurangabad, and Nashik as well as the ten districts of Maharashtra.
