Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicates Indian Railways’ first locomotive construction site in Gujarat to the country.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Dahod workshop’s manufacturing facility for locomotives with 9000 horsepower.
The Digital Tracking System (Kavach), an Automatic Train Protection System, is installed on these locomotives. These locomotives will be built with green energy and will bear a green production label.
By increasing the average speed and loading capacity of freight trains, these locos will reduce logistic costs while also decongesting overburdened tracks.
The locomotive with 9000 horsepower can haul a 4500-tonne cargo load.
