Mitsubishi Electric will invest USD 222 million to build a factory in Chennai’s Mahindra World City Developers industrial park to produce air conditioners and compressors.
The new facility will serve as Mitsubishi Electric’s first plant in India for the production of air conditioners and compressors. According to a regulatory filing by Mahindra Lifespace Developers, this factory will meet the rising demand for air conditioners on the domestic market and is scheduled to open in October 2025.
Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt Ltd has been signed, and Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Ltd (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Ltd and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, has provided land in its industrial park for the establishment of the facility.
“Recognised as the world leader in electric and electronic equipment manufacturing, Mitsubishi Electric will set up a plant to manufacture air conditioners and compressors spread across 52 acres at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai,” the filing said.
