The construction of the Airport Express Line, which will link Mumbai’s ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to the future Navi Mumbai airport, is scheduled to start soon as the construction of Navi Mumbai International Airport gains steam.
The two development organisations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region—Cidco and MMRDA—will construct the 35 kilometre Metro line.
While the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) would handle the project in the Mumbai area, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) will carry out the Metro line construction in the Navi Mumbai area.
The proposed Metro 8 corridor has been a part of MMRDA’s Metro Master Plan since 2014. As of now, there is no mass rapid transport system (MRTS) between these two airports.
