Maruti Suzuki commences construction of largest production factory

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki has begun the process of building its largest production factory, but it has warned that further investment would be contingent on the status of India’s vehicle sales, which have been dropping for the past four years.

Maruti began exploring for a location to build a new plant in 2018 after its Gurugram facility, the company’s oldest manufacturing operation, had to reduce production owing to traffic congestion.

The business would invest over Rs 11,000 crore to build the first facility at IMT Kharkhoda in Sonepat, which will span 800 acres (Haryana). Maruti concluded the land assignment procedure with Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. Maruti sells one out of every two automobiles on Indian roads (HSIIDC).
