Marriott and CESL sign MoU for 100 EV charging stations

Marriott International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), to build and operate electric vehicle charging infrastructure in hotels managed, licenced, and franchised by Marriott International and its affiliates in India.

CESL will develop and implement the project, including all expenditures and completing all activities required for the purchase, installation, operation, and maintenance of the charging units and related infrastructure, as part of this cooperation.

The station, which cost roughly Rs 450 crore to construct, is modelled after Germany’s Heidelberg train station. The station’s makeover was announced in July 2016, and work began in 2017 with a three-year deadline.
