As part of its ambition to attain carbon neutrality by 2024, Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) will build a 50-megawatt solar power facility in Odisha’s Sambalpur district for Rs 301.92 crore.
According to the public sector unit, this initiative will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 91,020 tonnes per year and generate carbon offsets of roughly 24,824 tonnes per year.
MCL, based in Sambalpur, has placed an order with a Chennai-based company to set up this green energy plant within ten months.
