Kitex Group has started construction on its integrated fibre-to-apparel manufacturing cluster at the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, following a dramatic change of events last year that forced it to look at Telangana for development.
The project, which is due to be finished in 2023, would see the world’s second-largest maker of newborn clothing invest $1,600 crore.
Following reports of the Kitex Group’s “unpleasant experience” with the Kerala administration, the Telangana government moved quickly last year. It flew a private plane to the group’s top executives, including Managing Director Sabu M Jacob, and offered them incentives to invest in the Warangal Greenfield Textile Park.
