Karnataka to construct nine water aerodromes

The Karnataka government intends to construct nine water aerodromes in order to improve tourism and connectivity in the state.

Infrastructure Development Minister V Somanna spoke about ideas for enhancing regional connectivity in the state during a workshop to develop a Comprehensive Civil Aviation Policy for Karnataka, which was held in Bangalore and was organised by the state government and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The Minister claims that Karnataka is considering growth driven by aviation and that a strong aviation strategy will help the state’s economy and supporting sectors, such as horticulture, education, and technology.

An area of open water used often for landing and taking off by sea planes, float planes, or amphibious aircraft is known as a water aerodrome.

“The water aerodromes will offer the public the speed of an aeroplane and the utility of a boat and increase tourism activities in various parts of the state,” V Somanna said.
