JSW Utkal Steel Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Steel Ltd, gained environmental approval for the construction of a greenfield integrated steel plant in Odisha with a capacity of 13.2 million tonnes per annum crude steel.
The project has been approved by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, which would create thousands of jobs in the region and enhance the state economy, according to the business.
The capital cost of the contemporary, green, and environmentally friendly integrated steel factory project, including accompanying infrastructure, is projected to be over Rs 65,000 crore.
When the Odisha government passes over the land to the firm, phase one of the project will begin.
