JSW Infrastructure, India’s largest port firm and a subsidiary of the JSW Group, has opened its first container terminal at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT).
JSW Infrastructure’s diversification and entrance into the container freight market is complete with the commissioning of the container port at NMPT. The company’s efforts to diversify its product portfolio and expand the percentage of third-party cargo handled throughout its operations would be aided by the container terminal at NMPT.
The container business will give JSW Infrastructure a solid foundation on which to compete for future container handling contracts in India and abroad. JSW Infrastructure has a 30-year Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) concession arrangement with NMPT for this container terminal.
