By building a rail mill in Angul, Odisha, with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) will more than quadruple its rail manufacturing capacity to 2.2 million tonnes.
At its Raigarh facility in Chhattisgarh, the steel producer owns and runs a 1 MTPA rail mill where it produces specialist rails like 1175 HT, R350 HT, asymmetric rails and 1080 HH (head hardened) rails for the railways, metro projects and high-speed freight routes.
“A new 1.2 MTPA rail mill will be built by JSPL in Angul. The total rail-making capacity would more than quadruple to 2.2 MTPA with the completion of the new mill, according to a corporate statement released on Thursday.
