Joint Venture to develop nuclear power projects in India

A power ministry release said NTPC Ltd. and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) signed a supplementary joint venture agreement to develop nuclear power projects.

For NTPC Ltd and NPCIL, this further joint venture agreement represents a crucial milestone in their collaboration and cooperation in the field of developing nuclear power projects that will aid the nation in fulfilling its clean energy pledges to reach a net zero emission objective by 2070.

The government stated in its release that the JV company will initially develop two fleet mode nuclear projects known as the Chutka Madhya Pradesh Atomic Power Project (2×700 MW) and Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (4×700 MW) pressurised heavy-water reactor (PHWR) projects.

The agreement was signed by Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, director projects, NTPC Ltd and Ranjay Sharan, director projects, NPCIL.
