The magnificent Jodhpur railway station structure will soon be a thing of the past. Railways has developed a massive reconstruction plan that calls for the construction of a brand-new structure that will provide passengers an airport-like experience.
The 500-crore project’s concept and floor plan have been authorised, and on August 18 the tender period will begin.
Geetika Pandey, divisional railway manager, explained that the decision was made due to the station’s increasing passenger volume and the inadequacy of the structure and facilities there to handle it.
“Though the existing building is majestic and gives a heritage appearance, the exponential surge in the number of passengers has prompted the need for a bigger building,” she said.
According to her, if everything goes as per expected plans, work will begin in October and the building will be ready in 3 years.
