Chairman of Japan’s development agency for India said that the government is considering funding private sector renewable energy projects in India.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency’s chief representative in India, Saito Mitsunori, stated in an interview that the organisation has so far given lines of credit to the government-run Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) and India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL) for a total capacity of 8 GW of renewable energy.
Now that renewable energy is a top priority for the nation, the agency intends to fund initiatives in the private sector as well.
Additionally, Mitsunori mentioned that JICA recently signed an MoU for the construction of four railway stations along the route of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train.
These are Sabarmati and Surat in Gujarat, and Virar and Thane in Maharashtra.
