ITC commissions first offsite solar plant in TN

ITC Limited announced the commissioning of its first offshore solar facility in the Dindigul region of southern Tamil Nadu, with the firm aiming to supply 100% of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2030.

The 14.9 MW solar project, which cost Rs 76 crores to build, would help cut CO2 emissions over its lifetime. The plant has already aided ITC in achieving the “unique achievement” of covering 90% of its electricity needs in Tamil Nadu from renewable sources, according to the business.

The 59-acre solar project in Dindigul, 435 kilometres from the state capital Chennai, is built with the newest solar technology and meets all national and international design and safety criteria.
