According to Mercom India, India’s solar open access installations increased dramatically in 2021, with the country installing 1.2 gigawatts (GW) of open access solar power.
According to the research organisation, the country has installed 383 megawatts (MW) of open access solar capacity by 2020.
Open Access solar power is a system in which a power producer builds a solar power plant and contracts a medium/long-term power purchase agreement with a consumer.
According to the research titled ‘Mercom India Solar Open Access Industry Report Annual 2021,’ the total installed solar capacity in the open access market was above 5 GW as of December 2021.
