Indian Public Sector Undertaking oil refineries are planning to establish 137 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) of green hydrogen provisions by 2030.
Dr. SSV Ramakumar, Director of Research and Development for Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), spoke at the recent India Energy Week in Bengaluru. He spoke at a conference about the newly popular subject of green hydrogen, and Indian Oil initially planned to build a 7 KTPA electrolysis facility at the Panipat refinery.
He stated that IOC has reached an agreement for the construction of green hydrogen facilities, not just for IOC but also for other refiners, with the renewable energy company ReNew Power and the engineering firm L&T.
He is further probing to ascertain which electrolyzers is best to use but assumption is made that electrolysis of water is the channel to produce green hydrogen.
