Indian Oil likely to develop Haldia refinery into petrochemicals complex

A top official said that the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is eager to transform its current refinery in West Bengal’s Haldia into a petrochemicals complex in order to sustain operations profitably. According to the official, operating a single refinery is unprofitable and must be supported by a petrochemicals complex. The Haldia refinery’s current capacity is 8.5 million tonnes per year (mtpa), and the business wants to build a petrochemicals complex adjacent to it, the official said. According to him, IOC has asked Haldia Fertiliser Corporation (HFC), whose factory is currently closed, for land so that it might build a petrochemicals complex.
