Imerys opens unit at AP’s Atchutapuram

Imerys, a French company that leads the world in mineral-based specialty solutions, established its manufacturing unit in At chutapuram with an initial expenditure of Rs 350 crore. Emmanuel Lenian, the French ambassador to India, officially opened the facility at Atchutapuram.

The new facility can produce 30,000 tonnes of calcium aluminate binder, which is utilised in the construction and refractory sectors in India. Imerys intends to increase its capacity to 50,000 tonnes by 2030 in order to meet the growing domestic demand for cement and steel. This makes the Vizag facility, for Imerys’ refractory and construction divisions, the single largest location and investment in India.

The factory was virtually launched earlier and was formally commissioned in front of corporate executives, including Philippe Bourg.
