As part of its commitment to environmental protection and a paradigm-shifting step toward green energy, HPCL launched its first compressed biogas from cow dung project.
The project’s founding rituals took place at Shree Godham Mahatirth Pathmeda Lok Punyarth Nyas in the Rajasthani village of Pathmeda in the Tehsil Sanchore District of Jalore. The ED for Biofuel and Renewables, Shuvendu Gupta, and senior HPCL executives were present.
The Waste to Energy portfolio’s first project for HPCL will be this. 100 tonnes of cow manure will be utilised daily at the facility to make biogas, which might be used as transportation fuel. The project is anticipated to be operational in a year.
The project is being developed as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen biodegradable’s) waste management component under the GOBAR-Dhan scheme, which was introduced by the Indian government in April 2018. Its goal is to improve cleanliness while generating wealth and energy from organic waste and livestock
