Honeywell Automation, a Honeywell India subsidiary, has been awarded a contract of Rs 4.96 billion (about US$66 million) to implement a Safe City project in Bengaluru, the capital of India’s Karnataka state.
According to an article in the Economic Times, the project, which has been postponed three times before, aims to combine biometrics and surveillance technologies to make the city a safer place for women and children.
It is also one of the eight Safe City projects being implemented by the Indian government under the Nirbhaya Fund.
