Under FAME Phase-II, the Ministry of Heavy Industries has approved 1,576 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on 16 motorways and nine expressways.
Under Phase-I of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme, the Ministry had sanctioned roughly 520 charging stations/infrastructure worth around Rs 43 crore.
For the creation of charging infrastructure under Phase-II, a budget provision of Rs 1,000 crore has been been out for a five-year period [FY20 to FY24].
Under Phase-II, the Ministry approved 2,877 charging stations in 68 cities across 25 states and union territories.
