Defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), whose new helicopter factory in Tumakuru’sGubbitaluk – 92 kilometres from Bengaluru – was opened on Monday, says it can accommodate all of its future helicopter projects.
Prime Minister NarendraModi inaugurated the facility on Monday, seven years after laying the foundation stone, along with the unveiling of a limited series production (LSP) light utility helicopter (LUH).
“The helicopter factory at Gubbi is planned with the vision to become a one-stop solution for helicopter requirements of the country. The greenfield factory has a master plan to accommodate all future helicopter projects. The capabilities will be built for production of helicopters and its engines as well as MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facilities,” HAL CMD CB Ananthakrishnan said.
