HPCL’s wholly-owned subsidiary, HPLNG, informed the PSU in a tweet that a greenfield LNG terminal is being built in Gujarat’s Chhara Port.
An informative short film about the LNG terminal has been made available by the company. The terminal is being built in the East Somnath neighbourhood of Gujarat.
According to the company, the terminal has a five MMTPA regasification capability with a potential upgrade to ten MMTPA. The terminal, which covers 139 acres, is anticipated to cost around Rs. 4,293 crore.
As part of the project, infrastructure will also be built for receiving, unloading, storing, and regasifying LNG as well as sending regasified LNG to the gas grid, according to the announcement.
According to a statement from HPLNG, “A 1.2 km long jetty with unloading arms and a pipeline for transferring LNG to storage tanks is being erected for the purpose of unloading LNG Carrier ships. The unloading facility will be able to accommodate LNG tankers with an unloading capacity of 80,000 to 2,66,000 cubic metres. For Phase 2, it is also possible to provide a future additional jetty”.
“LNG will be stored in two full containment LNG storage tanks,” it was further said.
