A 50 megawatt (MW) capacity of green hydrogen will be installed all throughout Nepal by the renewable energy specialist GreenZo Energy. The capacities will be established up for API Power of Nepal, which will invest Rs. 1,000 crore in the project, according to information from GreenZo.
GreenZo Energy and API Power have inked a contract to construct 50 MW green hydrogen plants in Nepal that can create 4,000 MT of hydrogen annually in three years. API Power proposed using hydrogen initiative areas for ongoing hydro and solar projects in compliance with the agreement.
The 8.5 MW Naugarh Gad Hydroelectric Project will host the one MW pilot hydro project that the two firms had committed to. “Nepal is rich in hydropower with 20,000 MW of projects under development,” informs Sanjeev Neupane, Managing Director of API Power Company Ltd. Neupane adds, “The seasonal nature of resources from the extensive network of rivers needs hydrogen storage”.
