The government has given in-principle consent to a location in Maharashtra’s Jaitapur for the construction of six 1,650 MW nuclear power reactors in technical cooperation with France.
Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy Jitendra Singh said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha that this would make it the country’s largest nuclear power generating plant, with a total capacity of 9,900 MW.
Currently, he stated, techno-commercial conversations with France are taking place in order to arrive with a project proposal.
