Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, officially opened and laid the cornerstone for 13 highway projects in Madhya Pradesh on Monday, November 7.
The cost of these 543 km of new roads is in excess of Rs 5,300 crore. They shorten the distance between Jabalpur and the capital Bhopal as well as connecting Mandla with the districts of Jabalpur, Dindori, and Balaghat.
On this occasion, the cornerstone for the construction of the 112 km, four-lane Jabalpur Ring Road, which is part of the Bharatmala project and would cost Rs 3,600 crore, was laid.
This ring road, which will comprise a bridge across the Narmada River, a 750-meter Iconic Bridge, and ROBs at Bhedaghat and Deori, will be constructed on the Barela – Malegaon – Shahpura – Bhatauni – Kushner – Amjhar – Barela road.
