In her budget statement for 2022-23, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed the establishment of four coal gasification pilot projects.
With a total investment of Rs 30,130 crore from the private sector, these four coal-to-clean-energy projects will assist meet the aim of 100 million tonnes of coal gasification by 2030.
These initiatives will increase domestic methanol, dimethyl ether, and ammonia production, lowering India’s reliance on imports.
The coal gasification plant, which would produce 100 million tonnes of coal, will be built in three stages.
