Five firms submit Rs 1.53 lakh crore proposals to set up semiconductors display plants

The government has received proposals from five businesses for the establishment of electronic chip and display manufacturing units with a total investment of INR 1.53 lakh crore.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Vedanta Foxconn JV, IGSS Ventures, and ISMC aim to spend USD 13.6 billion in electronic chip manufacturing units and have requested USD 5.6 billion in funding from the Centre under the INR 76,000 crore Semicon India Programme.

Vedanta and Elest have proposed to build a display manufacturing facility with an estimated investment of USD 6.7 billion, and have requested USD 2.7 billion in support from the government under the Scheme for Establishing Display Fabs in India.
