The first waste-to-energy facility in Andhra Pradesh is now ready for commercial operation.
The plant, which is located on the outskirts of Guntur city, will create 15MW of power using rubbish collected from the cities of Guntur and Vijayawada, as well as eight smaller municipalities in Guntur district.
Five years ago, the Jindal group’s JITF Urban Infrastructure Limited inked an MoU with the state government. Despite the fact that the facility was supposed to be built in 28 months after the MoU was signed, the developer took nearly five years due to a change of government in the state and technical challenges.
