The eight-lane, cable-stayed project’s first phase, which is referred to be India’s widest bridge, is virtually finished, according to Dilip Buildcon Limited, the company building the new Zuari bridge.
The first phase, which consists of four lanes, is “nearly complete,” according to Atul Joshi, Vice President (Structure), of DilipBuildcon Limited. Once load testing is completed and crack barriers are put in place, the first phase will be ready for traffic flow.
The bridge, which connects North and South Goa, is situated over the Zuari River in the community of Cortalim along the Margao-Panaji National Highway.
Joshi said that the rest four lanes would be completed by April or May next year, after which it would be the widest bridge of the country.
