Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel recently opened India’s first government desalination plant dedicated purely to industrial use at Dahej, Bharuch, with a capacity of 100 MLD and a cost of Rs. 881 crore.
Gujarat, according to Patel, has become a growth engine. “We have done exceptional work in providing basic utilities,” Patel says. The state requires the development of industry. The Prime Minister launched the Vibrant Gujarat events, and Gujarat’s industry have grown significantly since then. We discovered a water scarcity in industry and attempted to address it.”
Water for industries in Dahej is now collected from the Narmada river at a rate of roughly 200 MLD per day. The companies will now be able to employ sea water that has been treated.
