Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production (EOGEPL), which has nearly doubled its gas production to 0.8 million metric standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd) in the last year, expects to reach 1.0 mmscmd by August-September this year by re-fracturing and revival of existing wells, acidizing, and radial drilling.
In West Bengal’s Raniganj East Block, EOGEPL generates coal bed methane (CBM).
The initiative has cost the firm almost Rs. 5,500 crore.
EOGEPL, which has dug 350 wells in the Block, plans to drill 200 additional wells over the next 18-20 months at a cost of roughly Rs 1,500-2,000 crore.
Over the following 18-24 months, this will allow the company increase its production to close to 3 mmscmd.
