Premium electric motorbike startup Raptee announced intentions to invest 85 crore in its recently constructed Chennai manufacturing facility, which has a capacity of 1 lakh units annually.
The facility, which spans 3 acres, will house the majority of the business’s research and development team, according to the ex-Tesla executives-backed company, which also announced the facility’s launch. It will function as the main production facility for the ensuing twelve months.
The first motorcycle is anticipated to be released by the Chennai facility later this year, according to the business created by four Chennai-based engineers.
“This is a huge leap forward for us. We are at an inflection point where we move from a small R&D outfit to becoming a full-blown OEM,” Raptee co-founder and CEO Dinesh Arjun said.
The company said the R&D centre will house on-site development and testing facilities and will aid in future products. The plant will have a dedicated battery pack assembly line.
