Minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari stated that the 29 kilometer Dwarka Expressway, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore, will open to traffic in 2023 and relieve congestion on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
The minister claimed that in addition to relieving pressure on the Delhi-Gurugram expressway, which is a part of the Delhi-Jaipur-Ahmedabad-Mumbai arm of the Golden Quadrilateral, the highway connecting Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana will significantly lower the level of air pollution in Delhi-NCR.
The Dwarka Expressway is being built to be the nation’s first elevated urban expressway. A minimum three-lane service road is provided on both sides of the 16-lane access-controlled expressway.
