Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Roads, Transport, and Highways, stated that the Visakhapatnam-Bhogapuram Beach Corridor’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was being developed.
Gadkari responded to GVL Narasimha Rao’s question in the Rajya Sabha by stating that the Andhra Pradesh government has requested the ministry to build the Visakhapatnam-Bhogapuram Beach Corridor.
Gadkari stated that the state has suggested upgrading the current beach road to six-lane standards, which connects the Vizag port container terminal to NH-16 at Bhogapuram through Rishikonda and Bheemili.
He further said that his ministry office memorandum dated December 24 of 2020 had directed NHAI to initiate the preparation of the DPR. Later, NHAI appointed a DPR consultant for the feasibility-cum-DPR of the project.
