The capacity of the world’s oldest refinery, Digboi, will be increased, according to Hardeep Puri, the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas.
He stated that Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has already taken steps to expand its Digboi Refinery from 0.65 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) to 1.0 million MMTPA.
Puri responded to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying, “Please refer to your letter of September 23, 2021, sent to the Prime Minister of India, proposing capacity development of the Digboi Refinery in Assam.”
