The pillars of the Delhi’s first double-decker bridge have begun to take shape, with a Public Works Department flyover below and rails for the future Majlis Park-Maujpur route of the Delhi Metro on the top deck. It is being built between the stations of Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar.
The 12.5-kilometer route is an extension of the Pink Line, which is being built as part of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Phase-IV project (DMRC).
This is the shortest of Phase-three IV’s priority authorised routes, and it would be the earliest to open, with the first segment set to open next year.
Despite Delhi Metro being the country’s second oldest and biggest network, a DMRC official stated the “integrated elevated viaduct” will be the first for the city.
