Dalmia Cement Bharat expands solar power plant capacity

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), a large Indian cement manufacturer and a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Limited, has increased the capacity of its ground-mounted solar power facility in Cuttack to 17.1MW (from 2.4MW in 2014) as part of its long-term commitment to renewable energy transition (Odisha).

The solar power project, which spans 49 acres, is expected to generate 25.52 MU/PA, which would be used to power the Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works (KCMW) in Odisha.

This programme will improve the plant’s energy efficiencies, furthering Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited’s sustainability aim of achieving carbon negative by 2040. The 17.1 MW plant seeks to reduce the KCMW Cuttack facility’s reliance on fossil fuels by more than 40% during the day and replace it with a clean, emissions-free, and renewable energy source.
