The Oragadam plant of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) in Oragadam, located close to Chennai, would reach its maximum 36,000 manufacturing capacity the next month, according to Satyakam Arya, MD & CEO.
“We are closer to reaching the full production capacity of 36,000 units. It will happen next month,” Arya said addressing mediapersons at DICV’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
With modest expenditures, the maker of Bharat Benz trucks and buses intends to treble production capacity to 72,000 annually.
He claims that DICV experienced a 48% increase in domestic sales and a 125% increase in exports in 2021 despite major supply chain challenges, rising input costs, and the pandemic’s effects.
