Coimbatore Corporation finalises tenders for 2 MW solar power plant in Kavundampalayam

On the grounds of the former dump yard at Kavundampalayam, the Coimbatore Corporation has finalised the bidding for the installation, operation, and maintenance of a 2-megawatt solar power plant.

For the construction of a solar power plant at a cost of Rs. 14.15 crore in 2019, the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department has granted administrative approval. The civic organisation has since requested funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Under Tranche-1 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Flagship Investment Programme (TNUFIP), the ADB has donated Rs. 12.86 crore from its project sustainability grant fund. The remaining 1.29 crore for this project would come from the civic authority
