CII asks TN govt to set up aerocity around proposed Chennai airport in Parandur

Tamil Nadu government has been asked by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to build an aerocity around the location of the second airport.

Satyakam Arya, the chairman of the CII Tamil Nadu Chapter, lobbied for the aviation city, which may also feature a cutting-edge convention centre to accommodate international conferences and fairs, when he met with the chief minister of Tamil Nadu on Monday at the Secretariat.

According to him, the aerocity may include commercial businesses, facilities for maintenance and repairs, and aviation support services.

He said that CII has long advocated for Chennai to get a second airport and that the new investment that the green field airport would attract will help the state’s economy.

It would create direct and indirect employment, enhance infrastructure and improve regional and global connectivity, he added.
