The Greater Chennai Corporation has released tenders for the estimated $170 crore project of repaving 1,200 city streets. The completion of the tendering procedure might lead to the start of work within a week.
Corporation chief engineer has reportedly said some of the roads that are going to be relaid include MTH Road in Ambattur zone, Valluvarkottam High Road, Haddows Road, TTK Road, RK Mutt Road, Shastri Nagar Main Road in Adyar and KaliammanKovil Street among others.
“In the first phase, 204km of roads will be relaid,” he said.
Overall, the corporation would be relaying 8000km in the coming years at a cost of 1,028 crore.
