Chandigarh Renewal Energy and Science and Technology Promotion (CREST) will build four solar projects totaling 6.5 MW capacity in various regions of Chandigarh as part of a big boost to solar energy in the city.
These projects have been given financial permission by the Chandigarh government, and a cost estimate of roughly Rs 43 crore has been generated. After the tender procedure, the final tariffs are expected to be determined.
The four projects include two first-of-their-kind solar power projects in the region, N-Choe and Patiala ki Rao, each costing Rs 13 crore and spanning two rivulets. Both projects will have a capacity of 2 megawatts.
A solar plant with a capacity of two megawatts would be built on floating water works in Sector 39 at a cost of Rs 12 crore. Finally, at a cost of Rs 5 crore, the fourth 500-kilowatt project would be built near Dhanas Lake.
