One of India’s top oil firms, BPCL, has announced the opening of its South Indian fast-charging corridors for electric vehicles.
In its second phase, BPCL is planning to convert 7,000 gas stations along the Bangalore-Chennai and Bangalore-Mysore-Coorg highways to energy stations in the short to medium term.
The business has already deployed 25 kW fast chargers in two corridors in the south.
According to PS Ravi, the Executive Director In-Charge of BPCL (Retail), the future charging stations would be largely aimed at the electric passenger vehicle market. The goal is to install CCS-2 EV charging stations, positioned at around 100 km intervals.
