Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) issued a bidding for 72 additional coaches for the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project.
These 72 coaches (12 train-sets of 6 cars) will be used only on the 19.143-kilometer Yellow Line (Reach 5) that will connect RV Road and Bommasandra through 16 stops.
At December 2019, CRRC was granted the 216 coach rolling stock contract for Bangalore Metro Phase 2 and agreed to manufacture 204 coaches (34 trains) in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. A ground-breaking ceremony was held twice, but the company was unable to build up the factory or form a partnership with a local partner.
