In order to create a network of roads, motorways, and motorways across India, Bharatmala, a centrally supported project, will spend Rs 44,950 crore in Bihar in 2023–2024, according to senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad. An important goal of the project is to increase freight efficiency on highways in addition to developing the roads and highways. “Besides, the National Highways Authority of India’s ambitious six-lane Greenfield Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata expressway will pass through Kaimur, Rohtash, Aurangabad and Gaya districts of Bihar. Of the 610-km-long Varanasi-Kolkata corridor, 162 km will be in Bihar,” Prasad said.
